Energy Saving Can Be Obtained Every Day Of The Year.
How To Reduce Your Energy Bill:
During Winter:
- Lower the thermostat at night and when away to 60 degree F
- Replace furnace and air conditioning filter every 2 months
- Seal any ceiling and wall penetrations around HVAC ducts and recessed lights
- Seal around sewer vent pipe in basement and attic to keep in heated air
- Install Honey comb insulating window blinds and drapers
- Close storm windows and inspect all window seals
- Close fireplace damper after fire is out to stop drafts and save money. If fireplaces are never used have a permanent insulation seal installed below the damper.
- Install insulation box in attic over attic access to reduce cold air from attic entering the home
During Summer:
- Use shades and drapes to block out direct sun during the day
- Use programmable thermostat to reduce A/C load when away
- Air seal and insulate properly around window A/C units to reduce warm from entering the home and cooled air from escaping the home
- Install insulation box in attic over attic access to reduce warm air from attic entering the home

All Year Round:
Laundry:
- Dry clothes on a clothesline instead of in a dryer
- Wash clothes in cold water
- Clean the clothes dryer lint trap after each load
- Upgrade laundry equipment to front load Energy Star rated equipment to save on both water and electricity
Lighting:
- Replace incandescent light bulbs with compact fluorescent bulbs (Reduce a 60W to 14W power consumption)
- Use motion detector on lights where possible
- Seal attic side of recessed lights where possible with foam insulation box to reduce heat loss (Caution to not cause overheating and potential fire)
- Turn off and unplug appliances not being used
- Turn of computers when not used
Water heating:
- Reduce water heater temperature to 120 degree F
- Insulate water heaters using approved insulating blanket
- Insulate warm water pipes
- Install low flow shower heads and faucets
Refrigerator:
- Unplug unused refrigerator/freezer
- Keep freezers full
- Upgrade older refrigerators and freezers to Energy Star rated equipment
